This March 27th, World Theatre Day is celebrated by cycling.
Palace of Fine Arts
Classic, iconic, and deeply rooted in Mexican culture. The Palace of Fine Arts is a favorite theater for tourists and art lovers who enjoy everything from dance performances to plays. It has witnessed national and international productions that have marked Mexican history (yes, like the unforgettable Juan Gabriel concert).
Its neoclassical architecture, red velvet seats, and the imposing glass curtain separating the stage make it an architectural and artistic masterpiece worth visiting.

Insurgents Theater
Known for the iconic mural adorning its facade, hand-painted by Diego Rivera in 1953, the Teatro de los Insurgentes is a renowned cultural venue for hosting classic plays such as The Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret, and other works that leave a lasting impression on audiences.
A fun fact? The first production to open the theater was Yo Colón, by Alfredo Robledo and Carlos León, starring Cantinflas, the renowned Mexican actor.

Esperanza Iris City Theater
Just steps from the Historic Center of Mexico City lies one of the venues that has earned the title of World Heritage Site from UNESCO. Specifically, we’re referring to the Esperanza Iris City Theater, which since its construction in 1918 has demonstrated why some classics transcend time and space.
Its name is a tribute to the renowned Mexican singer, actress, and vedette, Esperanza Iris, who commissioned and financed its construction to fulfill her dream of owning her own theater. It is also inspired by La Scala in Milan, one of the most important cultural venues in Italy and all of Europe.
