Know the cycling signs
Urban cycling has become one of the favorite ways to get around Mexico City. With ECOBICI, more people join this practice every day. Therefore, it is important that we know and use all possible road safety tools; One of these is communication on the road with cyclist hand signals. These signals will allow you to communicate with the drivers of other vehicles and indicate the movements you plan to make. If you don’t know them, here are the main ones:
Turn right
To indicate a right turn on your route, extend your right arm in that direction. You can do this movement repeatedly to make it clearer.
Turn left
For a left turn, the signal is the same as the previous one, but the arm that is extended is the left one.
Stop
To signal that you are stopping, raise your left arm bent at a 90-degree angle, with your hand extended or in a fist.
Anticipating your movements will help you have good communication with other vehicles and increase your safety on the road. Practice these signs and if you already do, share this information with other people who need it.
