Art, history, science and culture in Mexico City.
Museum Day is approaching, an occasion to highlight the importance of these cultural spaces and their contribution to knowledge in different areas, such as: art, history, science and culture. We can say that museums are living treasures that protect endless stories that span the past and give us a window into the future as a society.
For this and more this day is commemorated. And we are proud that our city is home to more than 150 museums, placing it among the five cities with the most museums in the world! Did you know? Furthermore, you can reach many of them by ECOBICI, but today we bring you a list of 4 museums that perhaps you did not know about and that you can easily reach with our service.
1.- Museum of Light
The fascinating phenomenon of light has a museum dedicated entirely to it, located on San Ildefonso Street #43, Historic Center; This space is distinguished for being interactive, with a variety of devices, instruments and games manufactured by artists, scientists and technicians from UNAM that portray the importance of this phenomenon. Cycle station 92 is located on the corner of that same street.
2.- Chopo University Museum
This museum complex, in Santa María la Ribera, has been a spectator of temporary exhibitions never seen before, where art meets our present. Here you can enjoy not only these exhibitions, there are also film series, reading circles and even very interesting artistic workshops. Cycle station 554 is a few steps away.
3.-Ancient Toy Museum
Can you imagine that the toys from your childhood coexist in the same space? This museum is fun and very original, as it houses a collection of thousands of toys that marked Mexican generations as old as those of our grandparents, until today. It also has temporary exhibitions that are worth visiting. The closest cycle station is a few blocks away (CE 575 Fernando Ramírez – Eje Central).
4.- ECO Experimental Museum
If your thing is to explore other types of interventions, the ECO Experimental Museum, located in the San Rafael neighborhood, is the ideal plan for this day, since in this space you can find exhibitions by artists who investigate modern art and different from the established. There are workshops, poetry out loud and artistic circles that you can enjoy to the fullest. Cycle station 85 is very close.
Without a doubt, cycling and museums is the perfect plan to enjoy this day, which one will you start your tour with?
