The process of renewing the new ECOBICI system began on August 13 with 50 cycle stations and 700 bicycles, and it continues with installations every day.
Surely you have already seen the new cycle stations and bicycles of ECOBICI, those that have gradually been covering the polygon corresponding to the public bicycle system of Mexico City. This change is part of the ECOBICI renewal process, which began in July and aims to end in December of this year.
The renewal of ECOBICI begins
Last Saturday, August 13, the new ECOBICI system came into operation with 50 cycle stations and 700 bicycles in the Benito Juárez City Hall. The secretary of mobility, together with some users, the SEMOVI team and civil society, made a round giving the starting signal.
In the new cycle stations, there were SEMOVI and ECOBICI personnel guiding users on the operation of the new system. The Service Centers for Users (CAPUs) were opened in the different locations already known. And in the same way, the new application was launched, as well as the already renewed website.
This is just the beginning
As of today, there are 90 cycle stations and 1,167 bicycles in operation, and we continue to advance. Every night new cycle stations are installed; this update began in Benito Juárez, but little by little they will be placed in the other mayor’s offices; The objective is that at the end of the year, the entire area that you already know of ECOBICI will be covered with new bicycles and cycle stations.
Stay on top of this evolution and follow the coverage of the system; Every day, on the different social networks, ECOBICI informs about the new cycle stations installed, and every Monday you will be able to see the complete map of the progress. On the website and the new app you also have an interactive map to see the progress of system availability.
ECOBICI continues to work to give users a better experience, stay tuned for progress, soon the entire area of operation will be covered and later it will also reach new places.
