At ECOBICI, we believe that moving around the city sustainably, efficiently, and safely should not be a privilege, but a right. Therefore, listening to our community is not just part of the job: it’s the foundation of our decisions.
Over the past few months, we have received multiple reports and comments from users highlighting faults with some bicycles, malfunctioning stations, and general wear and tear on the system. We recognize that these issues have affected the travel experience, and that for many people, trust in ECOBICI has been compromised.
We will not ignore this. On the contrary, we have decided to act with responsibility, transparency, and commitment.
We launched a comprehensive maintenance campaign
Aware that system maintenance is an ongoing, but also urgent, task, in recent months we have redoubled our efforts to implement a comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance plan. This plan includes multiple lines of action designed to improve service in the short and medium term:
- Deployment of mobile workshops, which allow bicycles to be repaired or maintained directly on the street, without having to remove them from the system.
- Replacement of key spare parts such as brakes, pedals, seats, and lights, which significantly improves the performance and safety of each unit.
- Expansion of our technical operations team, which has allowed us to service a greater volume of bicycles in less time.
- Progressive bicycle replacement, prioritizing units with the most wear or recurring reports.
All of this effort has a clear objective: that every user who chooses to travel with ECOBICI does so with confidence, knowing that behind each bicycle there is a team committed to their safety and their experience.
Results that are already being felt
Thanks to the implementation of this plan, in just a few weeks we have begun to see concrete results:
- More than 1,200 bicycles are being repaired per week, equivalent to more than 60,000 bicycles serviced in the last year.
- These actions have enabled more than 418,000 recent trips, many of them on bicycles that had been out of service for weeks.
- As a result of the technical effort, reports of failures have decreased by 75%.
- Thanks to the use of the system, the emission of more than 3,224 tons of CO2 has been avoided.
- Today, more than 200,000 people continue to rely on bicycles as their primary transportation option.
We listen to you, we respond to you.
We know that this system is only as strong as the community that uses it. That’s why, today more than ever, we want to continue listening to you. Every report you make, every suggestion you send, is an opportunity for improvement.
This maintenance effort is just one part of a larger commitment: to provide a modern, resilient, and sustainable system for all people who move around Mexico City.
We’re going further with you
With this action plan, ECOBICI reaffirms its commitment to clean, safe, and high-quality mobility for all users. We will continue working day by day, bike by bike, station by station, to improve service and respond to your needs.
Move with confidence. Move with purpose. Move with ECOBICI.
